What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a procedure used in or adapted from Chinese Medical practice in which specific points on the body are pierced with fine needles for therapeutic purposes or to relieve pain.  Acupuncture is a vital component of the health care system of China that can be traced back at least 2,500 years.  Electromagnetic research has confirmed the existence and location of these points in the past three decades.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture Question and Answer

The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that there are patterns of energy flow (Qi) through the body that are essential for health.  Acupuncture, according to this theory, adjusts the flow of Qi in the body. Disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease. Acupuncture promotes and reestablishes the free flow of Qi.

Is acupuncture painful

Acupuncture can be a very relaxing experience.  As the needles are placed most people are not even aware of the insertion.  Some people may feel warmth as Qi begins moving freely again threw the body’s channels.
