ELECTROLYSIS

Perfectly clear skin you've always wanted!
Electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal. It was first developed in the United States in 1875 and later modified in France. A professional and skilled electrologist inserts a fine probe alongside the hair in the follicle. Then a small amount of electrical current or heat is applied to destroy the hair papilla (root) so each hair can then be easily removed. Since hair grows in stages, additional growth may reappear, but subsequent follow-up visits and following a regime will result in permanency. Because electrolysis removes hair permanently, you will be saving hours and expense spent over a lifetime using temporary methods such as: Shaving, Waxing, Bleaching Creams, Depilatories.
Electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal for men and women, approved by the Food & Drug Administration and the American Medical Association.
What areas can be treated?
Women: face, chest, breasts, abdomen, arms, fingers, legs, feet, and bikini. (NOTE: breast of pregnant women cannot be treated.)
Men: face, ears, chest, back and shoulders. (Additional NOTE: moles can be treated with a physician's note) Additional body areas can be treated but are not mentioned here. Does the treatment hurt?
Discomfort during electrolysis is relative to each individual patient an the areas being treated. Some find treatments on the upper lip and inner thigh slightly uncomfortable while other patients say they feel nothing more than a slight tingling or heat sensation. There is less discomfort on the legs, forearms, chest and breast areas.
How long does electrolysis take to achieve permanency?
An electrolysis treatment program must be tailored to meet each individual patient's needs. Certain factors determine the number and length of treatments. They are: Number of hairs in the area, Sensitivity of the skin, Area to be treated, Previous methods of hair removal--tweezing, waxing or depilatories. We start with the first visit of 1/2 hour which consists of a 15-minute consultation followed by 15-minutes of electrolysis working time. The closer you adhere to your treatment schedule, the more effective your treatment program will be in helping you free yourself of superfluous (unwanted) hair forever.
How many treatments are needed?
Treatments will be more frequent in the beginning and less frequent later on. Eventually the hair ceases. For example: work on the chin, sides of face, eyebrows and upper lip areas require one or two visits per week in 15 to 30 minute sessions. This regime is continued for approximately two months to avoid the temptation of plucking or waxing.
Is electrolysis safe, effective and approved?
Probe (needle) type electrolysis is the only safe method of permanent hair removal that is recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Other methods such as laser hair removal are considered permanent hair reduction.
What do I do about the hair between treatments?
Do not pluck or wax! Just trim the hair with a pair of scissors or if that's not possible nip the hair with a shaver. Some women bleach the upper lip and sides of their face. Bleaching is fine as long as you bleach the hair a week before the appointment. Keep in mind, the bleach could cut some hairs before the appointment and not all the hairs will be raised up enough above the skin's surface on that appointment.
